Training
Woodside is committed to supporting staff and carers in offering the highest quality service to its customers. Staff are encouraged to further develop their skills and to keep abreast of research by attending courses and seminars at both national and international level. Social work staff are offered training as part of their induction package to meet their individual needs. Each member of staff has an annual appraisal to identify progress and areas for development and has an agreed personal training plan. Carers are expected to attend training sessions, which are offered regularly throughout the year as part of their continued professional development and maintanance of their skills. This is organised in a rolling programme of training, which is supplemented by individual training to meet individual carers situational needs. Woodside sponsor a number of carers each year to complete the NVQ Level 3 training course for foster carers. To date we have four graduates. We also sponsor a number of carers each year to complete a BAAF approved online training course through Akamas. We are proud to have one graduate and six carers currently studying. We additionally have a carer piloting the CWDC workbook prior to the scheme starting in April. To view information about Akamas click here
