Mission Statement
Woodside exists to help children and young people develop into adults who can lead a happy and fulfilling life. We cater for a variety of needs, and seek to help children and young people to overcome difficulties and issues from both their past and present lives. We aim to give young people the opportunity to: Live in a home which can offer them physical and emotional safety Discover their value as members of a group (family, team, etc.) Explore ways of overcoming behavioural problems and create opportunities to explore new ways of relating to others Learn and develop interpersonal, social and communication skills Establish relationships of trust and mutual respect with both peers and adults Work through past issues with trusted carers, utilising professional support as appropriate Gain some understanding of any specific difficulties, and facilitate opportunities to overcome them to develop independence and judgement skills in preparation for adult life Encourage a positive self image through raising self esteem Provide a venue for exploration and discussion of relevant issues relating to young people and provide guidance and positive role models Establish an ethos that highlights the value of each individual within society and their contribution towards it
